Tbh, I was going to look until it's completed only I began reading them two days agone thanks to boring quarantine. I knew this blazon of manga is best when you read them in one go.
Now that I've read them, I wish to share a few things:
i. The theme is great. I beloved topics like tradition, sport and art. This manga combined all of those.
2. The characters personalities are fine. They're definitely what you telephone call a true sportman.
3. The flow of the story is okay just for some reason there's no progress. Fl'due south skill improved in ane match, then the next friction match she forgot everything she learned and back to her clueless self. She'southward pure and funny but at the aforementioned time naive and not vivid in the head.
4. I don't heed the lack of romance in sport themed manga. However, the romance in this manga is... Idk how to describe it. Frustrating?

Spoiler (mouse over to view)

There'due south two ml, one is her babyhood friend and the other is the one who introduced her to Karuta. It is easy to say that she's in honey with the latter, but y'all could also see that it is more of admiration (bc he'south someone who she looked up to and our of her accomplish for existence missing in activity most of the time). While with the other guy, she took him for granted bc he's e'er there for her.

I would love it meliorate if the character development was advisedly planned. I loved Chihaya but she always returned to her old self after a match. Additionally, I think it'south better of the romance is dropped from the manga or merely make it clear already.

I read other people's review subsequently I posted mine. It seems I'chiliad not the just i who found the romance unnecessary and that there'southward zero progress in the characters evolution. If y'all want to read this, set up your time (yes, time).

This manga makes everyone want to play Karuta. I like the depth of the characters, lots of twists and turns. Lot of competition, overly zealous I must say merely I however savor it. Plenty romance to not over power the story.

The female atomic number 82 isn't stuck upwardly and is clumsy but still smart when it comes to Karuta. I like the fact she isn't weak or naggy. I feel her determination!!~~ I beloved the bromance as well 🙂

Unfortunately at that place's a large gap in the center of the serial that was never scanlated. I liked it until I wasn't able to continue. Hopefully they offset going back and translating the missing chapters now that they're defenseless upward to the new releases.

I'thousand trying very hard to suspend judgment until the the series is complete, but this manga is becoming a real chore to read. At first, I loved everything about this series (and its anime adaptation): the fine art, the poetry, the karuta, the dynamics between the characters, the panelling. But for the last l or so chapters, it feels like the quality of the story and the artwork has been declining, with the aforementioned tired stuff being dragged out over and over, with little evolution in plot or characters.

For me chihayafuru is all well-nigh the characters and the romance, unfortunately as the story goes on yous get more and more than of the terribly tedious karuta theory, strategy and fantasy (this last ane I find abrasive, the talk of little gods, the glowing cards, floating letters, 3-dimensional whatnot and then on), information technology was ok at first explaining the rules and the underlying depth of a seemingly simple game only it goes to ridiculous length to endeavour to arrive look interesting and astonishing that information technology had the exact opposite effect on me, I found information technology decent at first and boring, repetitive and abrasive equally it went by. Every bit a analogue the story is more than and more centered on karuta related things and the opponents and the main char and their relationships development is getting less and less relevance and coverage.
So in short, every bit it goes by information technology's getting more wearisome. I however find it interesting enough to follow it for all the buildup so far, but for how long I wonder.

When information technology sticks to sports drama its very enjoyable. Simply when information technology starts to focus on romance it goes downhill. The romance is poorly and sporadically handled, no thing which characters you similar the main romance is going to piss you off.

Started off skillful, but the story line kept repeating itself. The art never changed - cards flying, players' hand extending in a swift motion, and their eyes enlarging. I like the author's previous piece of work then I'm disappointed with this one.

Chihayafuru is really an awesome read but I similar the anime most. At commencement, I was as well hesitant to read it because of the plot. I mean I really don't take whatever thought on what a karuta game looks similar since I'1000 not Japanese--but and then I remembered that I actually got hooked with Hikaru no Become before...it'south a manga that depicts a Japanese board game and because I got hooked with it I really started learning how to play Get and then I thought why not give Chihayafuru a try. It might be actually interesting as well so when I started reading it--just WOW! I got hooked with Chihayafuru a lot more than than Hikaru no Become. And I still don't get the whole procedure of the game--but it'south actually very interesting especially the poems written in the cards. I really honey the poems especially when Kana-chan started giving a groundwork history about information technology and the deep significant behind each and every poem and how she connects it with every grapheme or the circumstances in the story. I just love it! Chihayafuru is really informative. Information technology too gives yous a run a risk to discover more of Japanese culture. It's a culture wise manga and it's really a bang-up find.

Another aspect that I like about Chihayafuru is because it'due south not the typical sappy romance manga that I usually read. Actually when I remember well-nigh information technology there's actually not much of a romance thing going on, if I'm going to compare it in the simplistic way of defining what romance is. The romance here is merely light--too light actually but at the aforementioned time I can't aid but feels there'due south an undeniable deep bond and love betwixt the characters that just defies the typical meaning of what really love is and perchance that's what makes it actually special for me.

It'due south too not but centered about romance since typically stories nearly highschoolers are all well-nigh romance but information technology's also nearly building relationships--it'south all about friendships, making great memories together also as discovering themselves in the process. The character development is merely so neat. Each grapheme even the supporting role is highlighted with deep care. They all take their own bug in life, they all struggled with information technology, they all tried to face up it with resolve in their own (weird) ways and whether they failed or succeeded they still to keep to abound and I just tin can't help but think that i want to see more than of their growth. And I think that the Karuta with an added bonus of friends are the driving force behind their AWESOME growth.

And that's why I'chiliad really head over heels with Chihayafuru. I tin't become enough of information technology. SUGOI!....=D

I just can't sympathise why this manga is so popular. And then far, 27 volumes. It'southward hard to believe that there are 27 volumes and nigh of the content are the characters playing some ancient Japanese card game. Aye, there's a small fleck of romance in the background, merely the romance has made zero progress in 27 volumes. The kickoff time I read through ane of the card games, it was interesting because I didn't know anything near information technology, but in one case was enough. I mean, we all know what's going to happen sooner or afterwards. She will keep preparation and getting amend until she finally has a lucifer with the queen. Afterwards if nosotros are luck, the last chapter volition tie upward the romance, only it may leave it to our imaginations like so many other similar titles.

My overall opinion of this manga is this. Yep, information technology'due south interesting for about the first 6 - 8 volumes, and then after that it simply drags. I don't really read it anymore, but every now and and so I may await at a affiliate just to see where information technology's at.

Does writer have some sort of grudge confronting character taichi
C Mon human being he is clearly mentaly suffering from chapter one to 134(ongoing)
....chih..beloved arata and vicce versa. She conspicuously worry about taichi equally childfriend..which should not be interpreted every bit romantic involvement
Then why writer cull to make him hunt her without whatever outcome
It is mode obivious arata is talented kind difficult working. Manner. Stronger than taichi
So its annoying why author hadn't made taichi atleast as potent rival....
He Is just chasing after her and doest have courage to confess to her.
Information technology simply. Romance has become unrealistic.

1.Chihaya is not dumb she know nigh love(towards arata)and romance and all,and then also she doesnt have slight feeling that taichi may bee loving her...
2.taichi is constantly chasing after Chihaya..go up human being have some self pride and concentrate on karuta..Chihaya dont requite dam about your feeling(because from chapter 1 to 134 she only thinks of arata) dont think her feeling will modify subsequently only 2-three capacity...
3.arata dont give dam..near taichi he is way stronger than him in every accord(he even dont consider him rival in whatsoever contex,,while taichi consider him his rival)
4.most Chihaya...is she dumb or what everyone in this manga(except Chihaya and arata) know taichi accept feeling for her...
five.taichi plz leave Chihaya lonely and develop some graphic symbol of your ain
half-dozen.lastly why author want to meddle in dear betwixt Chihaya ant arata plz there is line between friendship and love...Chihaya acts above childfriend towards taichi that is abrasive..geeting taichis hope up!even though she constantly thinks of arata.....
Just ROMANCE IS UNREALISTIC
